BOOKS ON VALENCIA SPAIN
All Valencia As far as books on Valencia Spain go, this book offers an excellent introduction to the city and also contains some lovely photographs.
BOOKS ON VALENCIA SPAIN As a passionate lover of Spain, and after living in Madrid for some years, it's hardly surprising that after reading Duende: A Journey Into the Heart of Flamenco , I should head straight for Valencia. The book begins just outside Elche which is near Alicante in the region of Valencia. It's an account of a young man's search for 'duende' (roughly meaning spirit/soul).
His search spreads to Andalucia and Madrid and his subsequent encounters and experiences offer a vivid insight into the Flamenco underworld.
Jason Webster used to live in the Old Quarter of Valencia and now lives in the surrounding countryside of Valencia.
BOOKS ON VALENCIA SPAIN I loved reading Travelers' Tales Spain: True Stories (Travelers' Tales Guides) edited by Lucy MacCauley. The book contains true stories of authors such as Gabriel García Marquez and Penelope Casas on their travels through Spain. As well as being a very enjoyable read, this book must definitely be included in my list of 'books on Valencia Spain'.
For those visiting Valencia during the last Wednesday in August 2006, Louis de Bernières has given a very vivid account of the fantastic festival which is held every year in Valencia called La Tomatina (battle of tomatoes), which is aptly entitled 'Seeing Red'
Valenciano novelist Vicente Blasco Ibáñez (1867-1928), is internationally famous for his novel Los cuatro jinetes del apocalipsis (Spanish Edition) - The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Filmed twice it also starred Hollywood heart-throb Rudolph Valentino.
