There are lots of childrens things to do in Valencia and playing on the lovely sandy beaches is one of their favorites.
Valencia for Children is great! Playa Malvarrosa and Playa de las Arenas are only a 10 - 15 minute tram ride away from the centre of town. The white sandy beaches are edged with palm trees and are perfect for children to build sandcastles on and there are many beach-side activities.
Take a dip in the sparkling Mediterranean sea and when it gets too hot and you need some shade, there are plenty of pretty thatched parasols to sit under.
For younger childrens things to do in Valencia there are small playgrounds and special lanes on the beach-side promenade are ideal for rollerblading or riding bicycles. As you can imagine, this is definitely one of the most popular childrens things to do in Valencia.
The beaches are easily reached by the following: Buses: 1, 2, 19, 31 and the following only during the summer - 20, 21 and 22. The tram to the beach leaves from the centre of town from the metro station at Pont de Fusta.

It's also great for the rest of the family and highly educational... it's also great fun.
As well as a high-tech science museum with interactive, hands-on gadgets, there's so much more. An IMAX cinema, a lazerium and planetarium which have a range of child-friendly shows such as a virtual journey into space!

L'Oceanografic is the largest aquarium in Europe and the second largest in the world.
You get the distinct feeling of being underwater and will see sharks, whales and all kinds of marine life. On ground level you'll find seals, sea lions and penguins.

Childrens things to do in Valencia in...Barrio del Carmen  In the old historic part of Valencia is the trendy area of Barrio del Carmen. During the day this is a lovely place to stroll and take in the beautiful historic sites but everything changes in the evening.
This is one of the best places to go for nightlife as there are many restaurants, bars and clubs.
The area is full of tiny cobbled streets and in Calle Museo (Museum Street) is a very small little painted 'House of Cats'.
This is also a great place to stop for a drink as there are so many bars and cafes to choose from.
A very popular place to go is the Horcharteria Santa Catalina where you can try the local healthy horchata - (a sweet milky drink served cold).
Great with a few of the traditional long iced buns called fartons which children will love!
The area is full of lovely kittens and cats like the one in the photo.
Depending on the age of your kids, there are many excellent museums and art galleries to visit.
A must to visit is Mercado Central in the Old Quarter of Valencia. This is one of the largest markets in Europe and one of the most beautiful in Spain.
Inside and out are little tapas bars selling deliciously fresh food and stalls selling paella pans and a selection of earthenware. Inside are mountains of fresh fruit, veg and many other tasty foods perfectly stacked on more than 1,000 stalls.
Days Trips in and around Valencia Valencia Tourist Buses can be found in Plaza de la Reina. Take a ride on one of these very popular tourist buses and see the fantastic sites of Valencia without getting tired.
You can also take trips to the lovely old towns of El Puig and Sagunto or visit the famous Albufera which is only 12 km from the center of town.
This is where the rice paddies of Valencia are and you can take a boat ride on the beautiful Albufera lagoon.
If you hire a car (or take the train) it's definitely worth going to Oropesa del Mar/Marina D'or in the north of the region of Valencia, just a forty minute drive from the city of Valencia.

Like all Spanish towns and cities Valencia has a huge amount of festivals which are amongst the best childrens things to do in Valencia. The most exciting is Las Fallas which is held every year in March.

Museums and Art GalleriesThere are many lovely museums and art galleries in Valencia which some children will love. The papier mache figures at the Las Fallas museum are amazing.

If you're in Plaza de la Reina you cal also take a ride around town in a horse and carriage.

You can find gelaterias, chocolaterias and horchaterias all over - but some of the best are located in the Old Quarter in Plaza de la Reina, Plaza de Santa Catalina and Plaza de la Virgen.
Although not very healthy, every child's dream and one of their best childrens things to do in Valencia is to feast their eyes on the huge variety of sweets available here.
Look out for the popular chain of sweet shops, Casa de los Caramelos (House of Sweets), where you can find all types of sweets and toys.
Another great childrens thing to do in Valencia is to visit one of the many parks which have great facilities for children.
The small zoo which used to be in the Viveros Gardens closed in 2008.
The new Bioparc Zoo is in Cabecera Park in the Turia Gardens. The zoo is open 7 days a week and has free parking, two restaurants and a shop.
The Turia Gardens are one of the highlights of Valencia. The gardens stretch the length of the city and wind there way through the park to the stunning City of Arts and Sciences. This very long and winding park is full of fountains, ponds, playgrounds, football, cafes and sports facilities.
You can go rollerblading, cycling and there's also a small train to take you around the gardens. Hire a small cycling carriage if you feel like exploring on your own.
Younger children will also love the Gulliver Park - an enormous sprawling figure of Gulliver they can crawl over.
Another great park for kids is the beautiful Jardines del Real (Royal Gardens), popularly know as Jardines de Viveros.
This is Valencia's largest and greenest park full of statues, fountains and flowers. The ideal place for a picnic.
Kids will especially enjoy the playgrounds and a ride on the small reindeer-shaped train.
The Museo de Ciences Naturales (Museum of Natural Sciences) is within the gardens and children will be fascinated by the museum's dinosaur skeletons and stuffed animals.
