Lladro Girl from Valencia is just one of the many beautiful world famous porcelain figurines created by the Lladro brothers. The Lladro brothers, Juan, José and Vicente were born into a farming family but instead of carrying on with the tradition of farming, they chose to follow their artistic dreams and attended the Valencia School of Arts and Crafts. They were very successful and produced the lovely porcelain figurines they're now world famous for. Their first retail shop opened in Valencia in 1955 and a few years later moved to the town of Tabernas. The workshop grew so large that it's now known as the City of Porcelain. A short drive away are the Lladro workshops at Tavernes Blanques - City-of-Porcelain. There's a factory retail outlet near the factory which sells slightly damaged pieces at lower prices. Address: Casa de Lladró (House of Lladró), Carretera de Alboraya s/n. The factory is 5km (3 miles) north of the city center. To arrange a tour of the factory telephone +34 96 318 70 00 at least a month in advance. Freephone from within Spain: 900 21 10 10 or Fax: +34 96 185 02 37/Email: museo-lladro@es.lladro.com
The bus leaves on Thursdays at 10.30am from Plaza de la Reina and goes first to the Museum and then on to the City of Porcelain, returning to Plaza de la Reina at 1.30pm. For a glimpse of Lladro Girl From Valencia and many of the other beautiful figurines check out their website.
