Puerto Soller

Majorca

Puerto Soller

Puerto Soller (Soller Port) is not far from Deia and you can reach it via the coastal route which is truly stunning.

Above the lovely harbor are colorful houses and hotels and restaurants overlook the beach.

Many people spend their vacations in this lovely resort and others take one of the Barcos Azules boats to nearby Sa Calobra and Na Foradada.

Soller TramThe town of Soller can be reached via the Orange Tram which is one of the most amazing trips on the island.

Tickets are bought on the tram which then travels through orange and lemon groves back to the town.

The scent of citrus fruits is heavy in the air and if the tram were going a little slower, you could easily lean out and touch them.

After about 20 mins the tram makes its way through the Placa Sa Constitutio, just a few feet from the busy cafes which line the square.

The town owes it's wealth to the abundance of orange and lemon trees which grow in this fertile valley. The town also claims to be the birthplace of Columbus.

Sant Bartomeu overlooks the Placa Sa Constitutio with its many cafes serving the local freshly squeezed orange juice (zumo de naranja). The church has a baroque interior and modernist exterior which was designed by a pupil of the famous Antoni Gaudi.

Not far away is the lovely Modernist station and Soller Railway where you take the Soller train back to Palma.
