Valencia Beaches

...Beach Holidays in Valencia

Valencia BeachThere are 2.8 km of stunning white sandy Valencia beaches.

All have excellent facilities and services and there are many lovely Valencia hotels by the beach and port so great for your holidays in Valencia.

The area has vast orange groves, vineyards and golf courses which hug the coastline of this very beautiful and fertile area of Spain.

Valencia Beach

Valencia BeachValencia city beach is easily reached from Valencia airport.

The city is only 8km from the airport and only a short 10 - 15 minute drive into town.

Add on another 5 - 10 minutes for the drive to the local Valencia beach of Playa de Las Arenas which blends into Playa de La Malvarossa.

Las Arenas & Malvarrosa Beaches

These beaches form the popular Valencia city beach which can be reached from the center of town by bus in 15-20 minutes.

You can also take the tram from Pont de Fusta (opposite Torres de Serranos in Barrio del Carmen) and the journey takes about 10 minutes to Las Arenas.

Walking from Las Arenas to the end of La Malvarossa takes at least 30 minutes but is a very enjoyable walk. If you don't feel so energetic you can hire a bike.

There are many restaurants and bars where you can stop for a drink or bite to eat and the wide sandy beaches in this area are wonderful for beach activities, swimming and sunbathing.

History of Valencia Beach

In the late nineteenth and early 20th century Playa de las Arenas was famous for the beautiful Resort of Las Arenas which is no longer there.

Although the official name of the beach is Playa de Levante (also known as Playa de Cabanyal because of the nearby district of Cabanyal), the beach is still locally known as Playa de las Arenas.

Valencia Restaurants on Paseo Marítimo

valencia restaurants by the beachThe promenade runs alongside Las Arenas and is known as the Paseo Marítimo.

Sought after restaurants and bars, some with hotels above line the promenade.

The hotels and restaurants are very well established and the restaurants offer mouth watering dishes which Hemmingway, Orson Wells and many others have enjoyed!

Sin Dormir

It's also the perfect location if you just want to sit and relax and take in the sun.

Order a drink at one of the many bars and enjoy the views of the beach and the sparkling Mediterranean sea.

Playa del Alboraya

Further to the north of Valencia is Playa del Alboraya which is where the famous local milky horchata drink comes from. Definitely an acquired taste but one which can really grow on you.

It's made from tiger nuts (chuffas) and ice cold milk - even more delicious when you dunk in one of the local doughnuts locally known as fartons.

El Saler & Pinedo Beaches

To the south of Valencia you'll find the beautiful blue flag beaches of Pinedo and El Saler which are close to the fresh water lagoon and national park of la Albufera.

To reach the nearby beaches of Pinedo and El Saler you can take the yellow beach bus (which is operated by Autocares Herca) from the center of town.

Ask at one of the Tourist Information offices for bus route and timetable - (price 1.70€ - journey takes approximately 40 mins) - Metro Bus.

sidi saler valenciaThe five star Hotel Sidi Saler is located directly on the beach.

All rooms have a sea view and there's a shuttle service into town and if you're interested in golf, this is where the famous golf-courses and the rice fields are.

You can always take the Valencia tourist bus to l'Albufera from Plaza de la Reina which is in the Old Quarter of Valencia.

Or you can hire a car and drive the 12km to the Albufera and take your time to explore the lovely beaches of the area.

El Saler & Pinedo Beaches

When it's very hot the Valencia beaches in the city can become very busy so just head for beaches to the south such as Pinedo and El Saler.

Puig, Canet and Puebla de Farnals

Just a short drive to the north from the city of Valencia are the beautiful beaches of Puig, Canet and Puebla de Farnals.

Great for Kids...

The beaches are perfect for children and also ideal for sunbathing. If it gets too hot, take a dip in the sea or relax under one of the many parasol type sun-shades.

Ice-cream is sold on the beaches during the hot summer months and there are also small fun-fairs on the promenade for the children to enjoy.

Valencia Coastal Resorts

There are many lovely coastal resorts not far from the city of Valencia.

Gandia, Oliva, Denia and many more in the region of Valencia are very popular holiday destinations.

Maybe the most popular are Alicante and Benidorm in the south of the region and Benicassim and Alcossebre in the north of the region of Valencia.
