Cheap Places to Eat in Valencia
There are so many cheap Valencia restaurants and the majority are incredibly good value for money.The Old Quarter of Valencia is literally overflowing with tapas bars, cafes, horchaterias and restaurants.
The following are just a few of the many wonderful places you will find here.
Los Toneles

The first time we went to this cerbezeria (beer taverna), it was bucketing down with rain so we had no choice but to take shelter inside. What a surprise - we had a very tasty three course meal for 8 euros each.
Los Toneles is one of the most popular cheap Valencia restaurants and has been going strong for around 60 years. It's directly opposite the bull ring, the service is extremeley good, locals love it and the calamari and beer are delicious.

The horchateria was founded in 1836 and is famous for its ice-cold (and very healthy) milky Valencian drink made from tiger nuts which is called horchata.
A must to have with this drink are fartons (yes, you heard right) - similar to long iced buns.
Another must is the ever popular chocolate and churros. Thick chocolate drink in which you dunk churros (similar to a long donut) - truly delicious!

This is one of the most popular cheap Valencia restaurants in the Barrio del Carmen. It's famous for being the mussel-eaters cathedral and also has a great variety of tapas.

Also in Barrio del Carmen is the popular San Jaume. Ideally located in one of the most popular and trendy streets in Valencia you can either sit on the terrace and watch the world go by. Or... find a cheap Valencia restaurant to enjoy a meal in. There are also many upmarket bars and clubs as this is where some of the best nightlife is in Valencia.
Ice-cream ParloursAs well as cafes/bars, there are many ice-cream parlours in Plaza de la Reina where you can enjoy an assortment of mouth-watering flavours.

This lovely cafe is opposite Plaza Redonda and is surrounded by orange trees. An idyllic place to relax and just watch the world go by.

Finnigan's is a very cozy Irish pub offering a variety of drinks which of course include the famous Guinness and other Irish beers. This is an excellent place to wine and dine and one of the best cheap Valencia restaurants.

Talking about a cheap Valencia restaurant, well... Vintara's has the best of both worlds. It's a really great place to eat with a terrific atmosphere and a good menu.
A delicious seafood paella will cost you approximately 9 euros and you can enjoy it in a relaxed and very chilled atmosphere. There's a tapas bar at the front of the restaurant and a very cosy candle-lit restaurant down a few steps at the back.

Situated in the Old Quarter of Valencia close to the Cathedral is this lovely Italian restaurant.
Set over two floors with an upstairs terrace the restaurants offers an excellent selection of Italian dishes in a warm and cosy atmosphere. Lunch time menu is 9 euros per person.

Foster's Hollywood

This modern cafe/bar is right in the centre of Valencia. It's based on two floors and overlooks Plaza del Ayuntamiento/Plaça de l'Ajuntament.
It's a popular cheap Valencia restaurant which offers an assortment of sandwiches, salads and burgers. There's also a good set menu for around 6.50 euros.
Cafe Templo

When shopping or site-seeing in Valencia, CafeTemplo is one of the perfect cafes/bars where you can just sit and recharge your batteries.
It's based on two floors, has a great atmosphere and is full of posters of Hollywood Actors. There's also a set menu for breakfast/lunch for 4.50 euros.
The News - (British Pub)C/ Correos 5 Tel: 96 352 70 72 If you feel the need for a peaceful drink in an English pub then 'The News' is just what you're looking for. Enjoy the warmth and comfort of this traditional pub just off Plaza del Ayuntamiento. 
La Taberna Reina Plaza de la Reina, 1 Tel: 963 152 214 Take your pick of mouth-watering tapas in a cozy café/bar ideally located on Plaza de la Reina. Pay when you finish - 1 euro per cocktail stick on your plate! 
Cerveceria 100 MontaditosPlaza de la Reina Website: www.cerveceria100montaditos.es This is an excellent cheap Valencia restaurant in a very modern and inviting setting. All the tapas are served in a small roll and ALL at 1 euro each. A huge board above the bar lists the various tapas and they all come served with mountains of crisps. Washed down with wine, cold beer or an iced-coke... delicious. Unique way of ordering. Just tick off what you want on a pad (on each table) and the waiter/waitress will tear off your order. If you're inside they call you when it's ready or bring your order to you outside. Very laid back, very enjoyable and right next door to the beautiful La Fonda restaurant. Great location... excellent price!
