Palma Mallorca

...Beautiful Palma de Mallorca Spain

Palma Mallorca is a very beautiful comsmopolitan and historical city and well worth taking the time to visit.

The city of Palma is both the capital of Majorca and of the Balearic Islands.

Palma Mallorca

Staying in the city is an amazing experience as you have everything on your doorstep.

Narrow cobbled streets, tree-lined avenues, up-market shops and an abundance of lovely restaurants, bars and clubs.

There are many lovely hotels in Palma Majorca and lots of affordable apartments in the center of town.

Local transport is excellent so you can stay in the old city of Palma and discover the rest of the island by bus or train.

You can hire a car online before you arrive and collect it at the airport or at the port of Palma.

Palma Cathedral & Historic Center

Palma Cathedral

Palma Cathedral is a stunning 14th Century Gothic Cathedral (Le Seu) overlooking the waterfront and marina and a popular landmark of the island.

Close by is the equally stunning Palace of the Almudena which reflects the influence of Moorish architecture in this part of Spain.

The old city walls and Arab baths together with the nearby palatial mansions only add to the charm of this magical city. During the day the town is buzzing with locals and tourist exploring the narrow streets of the historic quarter which is overflowing with trendy shops, patisseries, museums and bars.

We stayed in the center of town close to the Cathedral in a street near Placa Santa Eulalia which is full of cafes and bars. Worth a visit is the nearby cafe Joan de Saigo at C'an Sanc which dates back to the 1700s.

Palma Markets

If you're renting an apartment then you'll definitely find the nearby Olivar Market very useful. Fresh fruit, veg, meat, poultry and fish and upstairs is a large Mercadona so you can stock up with drinks etc. Open from Monday to Saturday 7.00am - 2.00pm.

Majorca Tours ~ Palma Mallorca

The coach station is in the center of town close to the Soller Railway which takes you on a magical journey through the Tramuntana mountains to Soller.

From here you can take the tram to the Puerto Soller or take a bus to the nearby village of Deia where the famous poet Robert Graves lived or to the nearby town of Valldemossa where Chopin and George Sands stayed.
