There are so many romantic things to do in Valencia that youll love every moment of your stay here!

The day of love in this great city is St Dyonisius day on 9 October which is also the National Day of Valencia.

St Dyonisius's Day is the eqivalent to Valentine's Day and to celebrate this very romantic day, Valencianos give colored marzipan 'mocadorades' to those they love.

If you're in Valencia for Valentine’s Day (14 February), you'll find that in contrast to the UK, the sun is shining and it's the beginning of Spring. The days are sunny and warm and love and flower blossom fill the air.

Valencia is a very beautiful city! The sun is always shining, it's warm and in the spring the city is full of the scent of orange trees heavy with fruit.

Come to Valencia during the Christmas period and you really will enjoy yourself.

The weather is still very mild and the shops are overflowing with goodies. In fact, any time of the year is romantic because this really is such a magical city.

Go to Mercado Central and enjoy the delicious aroma of fresh fruits, salads, vegetables and gastronomic delights such as serrano ham, countless varieties of cheeses and tapas bars which overflowing with goodies.

Take a romantic horse and carriage ride from Plaza de la Reina around the Old Historic Quarter of the city and then enjoy the local drink of horchata at one of the oldest horcharterias in Valencia.

Do as the locals do and dunk fartons (similar to long iced buns!) into this very healthy drink of ground tiger nuts (chuffas) mixed with iced cold milk. Definitely an acquired taste. If you prefer something not so unusual, try the famous hot chocolate and churros or sample one of the many delicious cakes.

sailing boats in valencia

There are so many romantic things to do in Valencia and one of them is to jump on a bus or tram (from Pont de Fusta) and head for the newly built America's Port or the beach at Playa de las Arenas and feast your eyes on miles and miles of white sandy beaches.

One of the most romantic things to do in Valencia is to wine and dine under the lovely Valencian moon and then go to one of the great clubs in Valencia.

Flamenco Festival at Palau de la Música
Another of the many romantic things to do in Valencia is to go to the theatre or check out what's on at the popular Palau de la Musica and newly opened Palau de de Les Artes. This year on 15 February 2009 (a day late but it's on Sunday) you can celebrate Valentine's Day with a visit to the XIII Flamenco Festival at Palau de la Música - 8.30pm in the Sala Rodrigo - Tickets 20€ - More info...

During the day try the tapas and mussels at Bar Pilar or enjoy watching the world go by on the terrace of San Jaume (Calle Cabelleros) in Barrio del Carmen.

Barrio del Carmen is a very Bohemian area and it's one of the best places to go at night. It attracts a mixed group of people of all ages including artists, tourists and locals out to have fun. There are many places to eat and many bars, restaurants and clubs are situated on Calle Cabelleros. Cafè Bolseria is in the centre of el Carme and it's one of the most fashionable and fun places to go... Calle Bolseria, 41 - Tel: 96-391-8903.
