The day of love in this great city is St Dyonisius day on 9 October which is also the National Day of Valencia.
St Dyonisius's Day is the eqivalent to Valentine's Day and to celebrate this very romantic day, Valencianos give colored marzipan 'mocadorades' to those they love.
If you're in Valencia for Valentine’s Day (14 February), you'll find that in contrast to the UK, the sun is shining and it's the beginning of Spring. The days are sunny and warm and love and flower blossom fill the air.
Valencia is a very beautiful city. The sun is always shining, it's warm and in the spring the city is full of the scent of orange trees heavy with fruit. Come to Valencia during festival time and you will have a wonderful time.
The weather is still very mild and the shops are overflowing with goodies. In fact, any time of the year is romantic because this really is such a magical city.
Go to Mercado Central and enjoy the delicious aroma of fresh fruits, salads, vegetables and gastronomic delights such as serrano ham, countless varieties of cheeses and tapas bars which overflowing with goodies.
Take a romantic horse and carriage ride from Plaza de la Reina around the Old Historic Quarter of the city and then enjoy the local drink of horchata at one of the oldest horcharterias in Valencia. Do as the locals do and dunk fartons (similar to long iced buns!) into this very healthy drink of ground tiger nuts (chuffas) mixed with iced cold milk. Definitely an acquired taste. If you prefer something not so unusual, try the famous hot chocolate and churros or sample one of the many delicious cakes.
During the day you can sample the tapas and mussels at Bar Pilar or enjoy watching the world go by on the terrace of San Jaume (Calle Cabelleros) in Barrio del Carmen.
El Carme, as it's locally known, is a very Bohemian area and one of the best places to go at night.
It attracts a mixed group of people of all ages including artists, tourists and locals out to have fun.
There are many restaurants in Valencia and many bars and clubs on Calle Cabelleros.

 There are so many romantic things to do in Valencia! One of them is to jump on a bus or tram (from Pont de Fusta) and head for the newly built America's Port or the beach at Playa de las Arenas and feast your eyes on miles and miles of white sandy beaches.
One of the most romantic things to do in Valencia is to wine and dine under the lovely Valencian moon and then go to one of the great clubs in Valencia.
Palau de la Música & Palau de les ArtesAnother of the many romantic things to do in Valencia is to go to the theatre or check out what's on at the popular Palau de la Musica and newly opened Palau de de Les Artes. There are many lovely hotels in the center of town in the Old Quarter of Valencia, next to the City of Arts and Sciences and next to Valencia beaches.
